Talk abstract: Southeast Asia is home to a high diversity of non-human primates, especially colobine monkeys. Of particular interest are the Presbytis langurs which consist of 19 species. Unfortunately, many of these species are dependent on habitats that are quickly disappearing such that 16 Presbytis are threatened with extinction according to the IUCN Red List criteria. Andie will share her experiences working on the research and conservation of the Raffles’ banded langur (P. femoralis) in Singapore and Malaysia, and of the East Sumatran banded langur (P. percura) in Indonesia, highlighting the importance of cross-border collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
