Dr Caroline Phillips

I am a lecturer at the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography. My main research focus is to use extant primates as modern analogues to understand aspects of early hominin evolution, particularly dietary adaptation. Using a bioarchaeological approach (phytoliths and stable isotopes of modern environmental samples), I aim to reconstruct contemporary environments inhabited by extant primates to draw parallel inferences about palaeoenvironments utilised by our ancestors.
